Strong storms aren't putting a damper on some people in Kanawha County.

Families are using the day as a stepping stone to move forward, or at least take a break from the big clean up.

Ben Blackwell of Pinch says, "We can't alter the fact that it's still a national holiday.  And it doesn't take that much effort."

Everyone has their own reasons to celebrate Independence Day.

"For me the 4th of July is about getting together with family and remembering what our county was founded for," says Eric Douglass.

Storm or no storm, this July 4th is about moving forward for these people.

"We still have to keep living.  Life still goes on and we have to remember what's going on in our lives," says Douglass.

The Forth of July is a holiday that many look forward to.  Families get together to celebrate our country.  At the end of the day, it's still all about family according to these folks.

Dougless says, "Families are support systems.  That's where we go when things go bad and that's how we remember what we grew up on.  That's how we remember what the country is about."
