Greenbrier Classic deal extended through 2021

The Greenbrier Classic now is the longest tournament agreement on the PGA Tour.

Earlier this week, officials announced the fledging event at The Greenbrier has been extended another six years, meaning it will be play through 2021. The current agreement had the tournament scheduled through 2015.

The extension means the Classic will last through the PGA's television agreements with CBS, NBC and the Golf Channel.

"The first three years of our contract with the PGA Tour have been a thrilling ride," said Greenbrier owner Jim Justice. "The entire state of West Virginia and the region as a whole have embraced the tournament from the very beginning. Without the passion and support of our local and regional communities, The Greenbrier Classic could not have grown so quickly into one of the premiere events on the Tour."

This is the third year of The Greenbrier Classic. The event has received several awards from the PGA Tour, including the "Best in Class" among all tournaments.
