Three escape massive fire in a home on Walnut Street in Kanawha County
Kentucky State Police in Pikeville received a call Thursday of a collision on KY 122 in the Melvin community of Floyd County.
KSP units responded to the scene and preliminary investigation indicates that Alex Mullins, 18 of Melvin was riding a miniature sport motorcycle on when he was struck by a vehicle that left the scene.
Mullins was transported to Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee where he later died.
During the investigation KSP units located a 2004 Saturn SUV which they determined to be involved in the collision.
Police say Chester D. Hunter, 26 of Melvin, was driving the vehicle at the time of the collision.
Hunter was charged with D.U.I. 1st Degree, Leaving the scene of a accident Failure to render aid and other traffic offenses.
This incident remains under investigation by KSP Detective Jason Dials.
