A Malden man was arrested early this morning and charged with battery of a Kanawha County Sheriff's deputy.

Jason Alan Cook, 28, pushed a deputy and was belligerent with Kanawha County Emergency Ambulance Authority paramedics after they could not revive his brother, Jeffrey Cook, 31, according to a news release from the Sheriff's Department.

At about 2:40 a.m., paramedics were dispatched to a home at 800 Hawes Drive in Malden for an unknown medical problem, the news release states. When they arrived, paramedics worked to revive Cook, but were unable to do so.
