Tiger Woods may hog the limelight at the Greenbrier Golf Classic, but when it comes to the weather, the attention turns to the PGA weatherman.
Stewart Williams works as the PGA Tour's on-site meteorologist.
For almost 20 years, he's been watching the clouds for golf tournaments and letting officials know when trouble is on the horizon.
His weather lab sits inside a parking-lot trailer, complete with two laptops and an HDTV -- ready for whatever Mother Nature throws at these tournaments.
"As long as I have an Internet connection, I can pretty much get all the weather I need," Williams said. "This gives him access to live radar and lightning detection."
"I set up an electric field mill which measures the static electricity in the atmosphere. That's another line of defense for us' it warns us when lightning is going to hit the golf course."
With the recent rains this week and with more storms predicted for Sunday, Stewart is integral to the operations of the PGA tour.
