Food give-away gives people hope

Posted: Updated:

More than 300 people had an opportunity to re-stock their refrigerators after losing food following the storms on July 29.

People started lining up at 7:30 Saturday morning at the Tabernacle of Praise in Cross Lanes.

The organization usually holds a free food giveaway every three weeks...

"It's just wonderful.  People just call and say thank you very much.  They're really appreciative.  And they call they're friends so it's growing.  This is our fourth time doing it," says Debbie Mullins.  Mullins organizes the event.

Mullins says they didn't giveaway as much as they wanted because they usually get their supplies from Wal-Mart.

Wal- Mart lost a great deal of their product due to the storms.
