Replacement food stamps available for those on public assistance

Posted: Updated:

Good news for those receiving public assistance—people who lost food due to power outages will be eligible for replacement food stamps.

According to the Dept. of Heath and Human Resources, anyone who lost food in June can apply for these replacement benefits through their local DHHR offices.

While the application deadline is Monday, DHHR officials said it could be extended with federal government approval.

The storm that ripped through West Virginia on June 29 affected all but two of West Virginia's 55 counties.
