Church holds benefit for local shelter

A church helps a local organization.  Guyandotte United Methodist Church held a fundraiser on Sunday.

The money raised went to Branches Domestic Violence Shelter.

The event included an auction, food, live entertainment and a bike show.  There was also face painting and other activities for the kids.

Organizers say it is important to help out causes like this.

"They are a non-profit organization and do nothing but help. And in some of these situations you have to help and that's what we're doing," said organizer Charles Perkins.

Perkins said he was hopeful a few hundred dollars could be raised.
