According to Appalachian Power, restoration efforts were on target to reach 95 percent complete by Sunday night. Severe thunderstorms moving through Appalachian's West Virginia service area are causing power outage totals to raise.

Officials tell 13 News, out of concern for workers safety, restoration efforts are being suspended in areas where dangerous weather is occurring.

According to officials from Appalachian Power, this marks the fourth major thunderstorm in the company's West Virginia service area since the June 29 restoration began. The thousands of out-of-state line workers here to restore electric service will remain in the area until all customers are back in service.

Appalachian Power officials said in West Virginia, 64,500 of the company's half-million customers are without electric service and those numbers are increasing because of the storms.
