Huntington man fails to register as sex offender, pleads guilty

Posted: Updated:

A convicted sex offender drew the ire of federal prosecutors after failing to register in West Virginia.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said in a press release that Rodney B. Brewer, Jr., 29, of Huntington, pleaded  to failing to register as a sex offender.

Brewer was convicted in North Carolina in 2008 of taking indecent liberties with a child, requiring that he register as a sex offender for 10 years.

After moving to West Virginia in June 2011, Brewer failed to register as a sex offender. He was arrested in April 2011 by U.S. Marshals.

Jackson could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He is scheduled for sentencing Oct. 15.
