The Transit Authority (TTA), also known as the Tri-State Transit Authority, celebrates 40 years of service in the greater Huntington area this year. To celebrate, TTA will offer free service all day on its actual anniversary, Saturday, July 14.

According to a press release from TTA, this opportunity is "billed as a way for automobile owners to get even with the oil companies by taking the bus for free instead of driving."

TTA will co-sponsor the rides with local Clear Channel radio stations, which will offer free giveaways on the buses starting at 10:00 a.m.

The city of Huntington and the Cabell County Commission organized TTA to revitalize the private bus industry after it collapsed in 1972, wrote General Manager and CEO Paul Davis in a press release.
