KANAWHA CITY, West Virginia -

Recent power outages have put a major strain on families who have lost the food in their refrigerator and had to spend money to replace it.

But it has also been difficult on several small businesses owners who have lost out on operating days because of the outages.

At Almost Heaven Scrapbooking in Kanawha City, the storm knocked out power and caused some roof damage.

The owner, Beverly Ford, said it is difficult to miss a day of operation.

"Obviously we have to be here to make any money at all. It is hard to close for a day," Ford said.

The store is back open since power has been restored to the area.
