Leaders at the University of Charleston and Bridgemont Community & Technical College signed an agreement today that allows Bridgemont students to easily transfer into various bachelor's degree programs at UC after completing an associate's degree.
The signing took place at the National Publishing Innovation Center Auditorium in Montgomery, W.Va.
"We are very pleased to help motivated Bridgemont students continue their education at the University of Charleston," said Edwin Welch, the president of University of Charleston. "Bridgemont is a strong institution that prepares students for successful careers in many fields. UC will allow their graduates an avenue to receive a bachelor's, and even possibly a master's degree, at a top-value private institution close to home."
According to a press release from the University of Charleston, the transition deal will permit Bridgemont students to better plan their academic careers and minimize credit loss when transferring to UC to earn their baccalaureate degrees. Transfer students will be eligible to graduate with a bachelor's degree in just two years, and can earn a Master of Business Administration and Leadership (MBAL) in an additional 14 months. Because of the integrated curriculum at UC, Bridgemont students can take fewer core classes than they would have to take to transfer to other colleges.
