Nearly two weeks after
the first big storm, Putnam County was hit with damaging
winds and rain again on Wednesday.
A reminder to be
prepared and to not wait until the next emergency.
"And then it's mad
chaos trying to get the water, trying to get the ice, and trying to get the gas
in your vehicle," says Larry Zuspin of the Kanawha/Putnam Emergency Planning
Committee.
Zuspin handles emergency
preparedness for a living. He says it's
up to us to be ahead of these storms.
"When something
like this happens everybody looks around like, what's the county going to do
for me, what's the state going to do for me, why can't they provide me
resources. We've got to take care of our
own folks in our own neighborhoods first," says Zuspin.
These storms have some
people nervous. They say they've made
some changes for the future.
Swanson Smith of
Winfield tells 13NEWS, "We keep a lot more canned food around, because
when that happened, it wiped out all of our food for a whole week."
Another
community hit again, another clean up for these folks who are hoping the
weather calms down soon.
