Whether it's a donation of non-perishable food items or a monetary donation, your help is need to replenish the Huntington Area Food Bank.
Inside the Food Bank's warehouse in Seventh Avenue in Huntington, Executive Director Leigh Anne Zappin said the warehouse is usually much fuller of food, but the extreme heat and storms leaving folks without power has left the food bank in dire straits.
They serve 17 counties in West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio, and were even called on to help two other counties during the emergency.
"It probably wiped out 70 per cent of the food we had on hand. Everything we had went to emergency shelters, volunteer fire departments and other agencies that still had power," said Zappin.
Since the food supply was depleted, it had a trickle-down effect on places the food bank supplies food.
