CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

A day of prayer is being held on July 15 in West Virginia.

The West Virginia Council of Churches is holding the event in an effort to remember families recovering from weeks without power following the June 29th storm.

"The last week has been challenging, but as the spiritual says, ‘We have come this far
by faith,' and by faith we will continue efforts to help those in need," said Rev. Jeff Allen,
Executive Director of the West Virginia Council of Churches in a news release.

A food drive is also being organized by the Council of Churches. They're asking participants to drop off canned goods to local food pantries.
