A festival in Washington will host a one act play written by Shawnee State University's Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Timothy Scheurer, Ph. D.
The One Act Play Festival at the Pend Oreille Playhouse in Newport, Washington starts tomorrow.
The play Schreurer wrote is called "Tax Time," and it was one of eight plays chosen nationwide, and received the highest score from the reading panel. The performance is tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. and the following night at the same time.
"Tax Time" is about a couple on their way to the accountant to get their taxes ready, an experience to which many can relate.
"I was really pleased to be chosen," Scheurer said. "Theater groups are looking for 10-minute plays. It's very popular now."
Scheurer serves on the editorial boards of "Popular Music and Society," "The Journal of Popular Film and Television," and "The Journal of American Culture." He is a past president of the American Culture Association.
