UC, Bridgemont CTC reach agreement - WOWK 13 Charleston, Huntington WV News, Weather, Sports

The signing took place earlier this week at the National Publishing Innovation Center Auditorium in Montgomery. UC President Edwin Welch and Bridgemont President Beverly Jo Harris attended the signing.

"We are very pleased to help motivated Bridgemont students continue their education at the University of Charleston," said Welch. "Bridgemont is a strong institution that prepares students for successful careers in many fields. UC will allow their graduates an avenue to receive a bachelor's, and even possibly a master's degree, at a top-value private institution close to home."

The 2 + 2 transfer agreement will enable Bridgemont students the ability to better plan their academic careers and minimize credit loss when transferring to UC to earn their baccalaureate degrees. Transfer students will be eligible to graduate with a bachelor's degree in two years, and can earn a Master of Business Administration and Leadership degree in an additional 14 months. Because of the integrated curriculum at UC, Bridgemont students can take fewer core courses than they would have to take to transfer to other schools.

Bridgemont students who serve in the U.S. Army or Air National Guard and transfer to UC will be eligible for the Golden Eagle Scholarship. The scholarship will provide $9,000 per year in tuition assistance, while the state of West Virginia provides a $6,000 educational stipend to National Guard members, and the federal government provides $4,500 per year in tuition assistance to active members of the Army National Guard. The $9,000 in scholarship aid from UC will mean that members of the Army National Guard can attend UC tuition-free.

In addition to the National Guard scholarship, the University of Charleston participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program, which provides tuition benefits to veterans.
