Damage call center opens in Mason county

The Mason county Office of Emergency Management announced the opening of an emergency call center Friday.

The call center will receive damage claims from Mason county residents.

It will be open July 16 through July 20, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Residents are asked to gather information including the home owner's name, address, phone number, and type of damage.

They are also asked to have written documentation and pictures.

The information is gathered to provide damage reports to state and federal officials to obtain a Presidential Disaster Declaration.

So far, FEMA has not declared Mason County a disaster county, but local emergency management officials are gathering information for federal agencies to get the county declared as a disaster area.
