VFW Post 1064 in Huntington hosting a grand reopening

The VFW Post 1064 in Huntington got a renovation and is celebrating with a grand reopening. On Friday, they hosted the reopening with music from 9 p.m.- 3 a.m.

The VFW is hoping to attract younger veterans to let them know they are welcome and have a place to be entertained. There are two sections of the bar for the 21 and older group and the underage veterans. There is now sports bar atmosphere with new televisions instead of the outdated decor. The televisions were purchased with a donation that a doctor's group provided.

The managers are hoping to make it a place where veterans of all ages can socialize.

"We're trying to do something to give the VFW a rebirth, put new life into it, with more activities to help our membership. We want our membership to be involved," said Scottie King, Past Commander.

In the next couple of weeks, the VFW will transform they're ballroom into a performance hall called the Bunker.
