Some area churches are helping out the Huntington City Mission.
The Huntington City Mission has a food pantry for people that do not stay there, but still need help. The shelves of the pantry were emptied by people who needed help after the recent storms.
Fellowship Baptist Church in Barboursville delivered about $3,400 in food to help replenish those shelves on Sunday. Staff members say getting this kind of support from the community is nothing new.
"The tri-state area has always been so good to support the Huntington City Mission. About 80 percent of our financial support comes from the individuals of the tri-state area," said Pete Davidson, executive director.
The Huntington City Mission also received $500 donations from River Cities Community Church and Community of Grace United Methodist Church. Both of these churches are in Huntington.
