ELEANOR, West Virginia -
Recent severe weather disrupted several well known and typically well attended fairs and festivals in the area.
And as the Putnam County Fair kicks off in Eleanor people can't help keeping a watchful eye on the skies.
For some the biggest obstacle is the heat.
But other people attending the fair can't forget about the storms they've experienced over the past few weeks. They are keeping a close eye on the forecast so they know what to expect before heading out.
"Most people don't mind wading through the mud or walking through the rain," said fair president Wayne Bennett. "But if it gets to lightning and thundering too bad then they want to get in where they are safe."
Another note about the fair, the Winfield Bridge is open. If motorists want to take the new Route 35 through Winfield they will be able to access the fair.
