A Kanawha County man accused of fathering three of his grandchildren was in court on Monday.

Charles Shamblin, 56, was arraigned on incest, sexual abuse, and sexual assault charges.

State Police said Shamblin abused his daughter for more than 10 years.

DNA samples also revealed Shamblin fathered her three children, troopers said.

Shamblin's trial has been scheduled for October 15.

His defense attorney requested a competency hearing and said Shamblin cannot read or write.

He's in the South Central Regional Jail with bail set at $100,000.
