About two dozen students from around the state are spending part of their summer learning.
Marshall University is the site of this week's Fun With Science academy.
It is part of the state program Health Sciences and Technology Academy.
It is for students entering ninth grade in the fall.
The kids will be spending the week doing different labs and experiments.
The theme of the week is learning about diabetes, and the students can take what they learn this week and teach other people.
"They get to go home and share what they found with their parents and siblings and it can bring a very big impact," said David Cartwright, director.
This is one of four HSTA academies that will be held at Marshall this summer.
