One person was hit and killed by a train Monday afternoon in Marmet.

Fiends of the victim tell WOWK that they were all hanging out and drinking together at a nearby swimming hole when they decided to run across the street to the Go-Mart.

But when they got over the railroad tracks, their friend just sat down and said he had to rest for a second. They struggled to remove him from the track before the train struck.

The victim's friends say they never heard the train whistle blow.

Out of respect for the victim's family, WOWK is not releasing the name of the victim until his family has been notified.

The accident happened at 98th Street, across from the Go-Mart in Marmet.

WOWK has a crew on the scene and will have more information as it becomes available.
