Phil Moye, a spokesperson for AEP, said that the lines on Bridge Road had sustained damage after the June 29 wind storm, but had just recently gave way.

UPDATE

The Charleston Police Department has closed Bridge Road in Charleston while linemen with Appalachian Power repair utility lines in the area.

Appalachian Power reports that 1,107 customers are without power in Kanawha County.

Reports on Twitter show that some of the outages are in the Bridge Road part of Charleston. The power is estimated to be out for four hours.
