Savannah's Restaurant recognized by wine magazine

A local restaurant is honored by a wine publication.

Savannah's Restaurant in Huntington has received a 2012 Wine Spectator Magazine Award of Excellence.

The award is for the restaurant's wine list and cuisine.

Restaurants are judged on the selection of quality wines with a thematic match to the menu in regards to style and price.

Savannah's has received the award every year since 1999.

There are about a dozen restaurants in West Virginia that received the honor this year.

"We have a lot of travelers who stop in, and they are amazed at the wine list. They think we don't have something and they order it and we do, and they are totally amazed," said Ava Bicknell, owner.

The restaurant features over 300 wines in its selection.
