HAMLIN -
With the news that a third Lincoln County elected official has been charged with a crime stemming from the 2010 Democratic Primary election, it has some voters frustrated.
"I don't care who you vote for. They're going to put in who they want," said Branchland resident Leora Meeks.
The charges were filed in an information. Typically, these are used to circumvent an indictment when a plea deal is being worked on.
It is unclear whether or not Ramey will remain on the commission.
"Thomas is a young person," said Commissioner Charles Vance. "He has his whole future ahead of him. I really hate to see this.
Vance said it has long been believed Ramey was the "other person" mentioned in criminal complaints filed against Sheriff Jerry Bowman and Clerk Donald Whitten.
"We here in the county knew, or were led to believe there was some involvement by Mr. Ramey," said Vance.
The County Commission meets Thursday at 10 a.m. Neither Ramey nor Commission President Charles McCann are expected to be at the meeting in person.
Ramey did not return calls for comment. His attorney, Greg Campbell said he would only comment "after sentencing."
