More bad news for the Slack Street Recycling Center in Charleston
Kanawha County Solid Waste Authority employees will be laid off and the executive director is stepping down.
All this in the midst of major problems with the Slack Street facility. The facility, according to Executive Director Norm Steenstra, is losing an estimated $30,000 a month.
Steenstra has resigned for health reasons.
Six employees are also being told they don't have a job anymore. The layoffs take effect at the end of July. After they take effect, only six employees will remain at the facility. At the beginning of the year, there were 26 employees.
