DUI checkpoint planned in Wayne County

The West Virginia State Police will be conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Saturday, Aug. 18 and Sunday, Aug. 19 in Wayne County. The checkpoint is going to be set up on Rt.152 near the intersection of 8th Street Road in Lavelette.

A second checkpoint site is also being planned on Route 60 and 7th Street in Kenova.

Troopers will be looking for drivers who are under the influence, according to a news release from the agency. They will also be looking for reckless drivers, speeders, seat belt violations and other illegal activities.

People can also send in tips about impaired drivers by using the state police text service. Text *sp (*77) to report drunk drivers, reckless driving, stranded motorists and other violations.
