Three escape massive fire in a home on Walnut Street in Kanawha County
A Kanawha County man who was reported missing was found dead in the Elk River Wednesday evening.
Rex Edward Hughes, 48, had been reported missing at about noon Wednesday, according to a news release from the Kanawha County Sheriff's Department. His body was found in the river at about 7 p.m.
Family and friends reported him missing after realizing he had not returned from a trip to the river Tuesday evening, the news release states. Police found some of Hughes' belongings on the river bank, where he sometimes would go to swim.
Sheriff's Department divers and area fire department members assisted in the search for Hughes in Walgrove, the news release states.
