A project aimed at reducing flooding is moving forward.
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers has awarded a $6 million contract for the next phase of the Island Creek Flood Mitigation project.
Heeter Construction of Spencer will widen the creek from the area near where Super 8 used to be to the NAPA store.
The purpose of the project is to reduce flooding in that area which is prone to high water.
