How would you feel if you were without a home for nearly three weeks?

That's what a family of eight is dealing with after devastating storms ripped through the region last month.

Yolanda Wilcox said their problems started on June 29. She lives with her husband, daughter, son-in-law, and four grand-children.

"A tree hit the house. Water came in, there was water damage every where," she said.

The house is now overrun with mold.

"Mold is everywhere. Water damage is everywhere. We lost everything," she said.

The power also went out.

The family stayed at both the Kanawha City Rec Center and King Center when the two were opened as storm shelters.

Now, they're temporarily living with a friend in Dunbar.

It's difficult for them to drive past their Jackson Street home that is unlivable.

"I wouldn't wish this for nobody. To be honest with you, I don't wish this for nobody," said Terrance Lloyd, Yolanda's son-in-law.

They've looked up financial assistance at the local library but haven't come up with any leads.

They aren't sure where they will go after this weekend.

"It's hard on the grown people because they are trying to keep the hope up for the kids because we keeping telling them that we are going to find a place and that someone is going to help us," Wilcox said.

Even though their house might be gone, Wilcox said she isn't giving up hope that someone, somewhere, will help her family find a place to live.

"We need so much help, you know, we didn't ask for all of this. We didn't plan for all of this," she said.
