The Gallipolis Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol has released the name of the man who died in a plane crash in Rutland in Meigs County.
The pilot's name is Gerald Chamberlain, 72, of Raeford, North Carolina.
Investigators believe the cause of the crash was a mechanical failure based on a witness statement.
The crash remains under investigation by the FAA.

Dispatchers at Meigs County 911 tell 13NEWS one person is dead following a single engine plane crash near Zion Road.
Dispatchers say the plane went down in wooded area.
The National Transportation Safety Board is working with local officials investigating the crash.

The Ohio State Patrol is investigating a plane crash that happened in Meigs County.
The Meigs County Sheriff's department confirmed that a plane crashed in the Rutland township on Zion Road around 11:40 a.m. Friday. Emergency responders found the plane around 1:30 p.m.
