People went the extra mile on Friday night to raise money and awareness about diabetes. It was all part of a competition at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston. Competitors represented the two teams at the ballpark as they tried to raise money through votes.

The winner got the chance to give "Petie" the pig a big kiss on the snout.

The money and awareness will help the Charleston Gold Dome Lions Club and the juvenile diabetes research foundation. The reason groups use a pig as part of their fundraising is that a pig's pancreas was the first source of insulin for diabetics back in 1921.
