Runners and walkers in the tri-state were busy Saturday morning helping a cause.

More than 100 runners and walkers turned out for Jule Huffman's "Run for the Kids."  The second annual event is a 5K run and walk that helps support Marshall University's Department of Communications Disorders.

The event was expected to raise around $3,000.

Proceeds from the event help support a clinical position within the Marshall University Speech and Hearing Center.

The event began and ended on Veterans Memorial Boulevard.
