About 100 walkers turned out for the ninth annual Walk for Independence.
Money raised from the event goes to the Mountain State Centers for Independent Living and the Tri-State Literacy Council.
The Mountain State Centers for Independent Living provide resources and training to people with disabilities, so they can live as independently as possible.
The Tri-State Literacy Council is a volunteer organization, designed to raise the literacy rates of adults in the area.
Organizers say they hoped to raise about $3,000 from the walk.
