In a dissent released this week, West Virginia Supreme Court Justice Brent Benjamin explains why he thinks multi-member districts in our State House of Delegates are unconstitutional.
In a dynamic and powerful statement, Benjamin says that because of the way things are now many residents have "effectively lost the benefit of our right to vote."
How can our governor, our lawmakers and our elected leaders sit idly by while a fundamental tenant of Democracy is trampled in the name of politics and party ideology?
I hope Benjamin's dissent is a fresh call to arms and reawakens the fight to ensure all of West Virginia has equal representation.
