Tune in to local television and radio stations - officials will use the media to make announcements.
Emergency sirens are tested at noon the 4th Wednesday of each months. If you hear them at any other time, go indoors and turn on your TV or radio.
KC911 - Emergency officials will use the telephone ring-down system to share information. It is important to leave your phone free to get these messages.
BE RESPONSIBLE:
- Carbon monoxide is an odor-less, color-less gas that kills without warning. It kills hundreds of unexpecting victims every year.
- Check CO detectors, make sure they are installed everywhere and that they are working. Have your furnace inspected every year.
- NEVER use a portable generator inside a closed structure (EVEN if windows and doors are open).
Evacuation Plans:
- Local officials will announce on TV and radio broadcasts, evacuation plans and locations.
- If you are notified to evacuate, listen to local TV and radio stations for instructions.
- Gather clothing and essential medication for a short stay.
