CHARLESTON, West Virginia -

A story will come to life in August at the Kanawha County Public Library.

Mick Souter will perform as one of Woody Guthrie's fictitious traveling companions.

He will be singing Guthrie's songs and telling biographical stories that trace Guthrie's travels from California to the New York Island.

The stories follow the character through the struggles of the Dust Bowl, the early union movement, the plight of migrant workers, World War II and more.

The library calls Souter West Virginia's leading educational performing artist.
