The Public Service Commission of West Virginia's Transportation Enforcement Division was named the Highest Achieving Transportation Safety Enforcement Program in the country.

According to a news release from the PSC, the commission won the recognition for the second year in a row for its work during 2011.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration awards the, "most productive and focused safety enforcement program for interstate and intrastate motor carriers."

"I congratulate each member of the PSC's Transportation Enforcement Division for being nationally recognized as the highest-achieving safety enforcement program in the country," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin in the news release. "I commend their commitment to safety and appreciate their continued service to West Virginia."

In 2011, transportation enforcement officers administered 32,000 vehicle safety inspections in addition to regular compliance reviews.
