A group of children in Charleston is using this summer to stretch their minds around the arts.
The Stage Kicks Arts Camp is under way at The Academy of Arts in Charleston. It features seminars on theater, dance, music and makeup.
The camp is open to children in fourth through seventh grades. On Wednesday the kids enjoyed a fashion show produced by some of the other campers.
Organizers said it's a great way for younger kids to find their footing in one of the fine arts. "I think it's great in all aspects, whether it's theater, or dance, or music, or art. It just opens the door for them," said January Wolf, director of the camp.
The academy is also hosting a Mermaids and Dragons Arts Camp for the younger children ages 3 to 7.
