Thursday morning employees at the Sheetz in Scott Depot cut the ribbon to open their new store.
Thirty-five full- and part-time employees work at the 24-hour store.
In these uncertain economic times, the company is being praised for opening new stores and creating jobs. This is the second location to open in Putnam County.
"We just felt this community was a good area. They need us and we need them. It's very high-traffic and you are right off the Interstate. It's a good location for us," said Charles Sheets, one of the owners of Sheetz, Inc.
During opening ceremonies the company donated $2,500 to Special Olympics.
Sheets said company leaders are looking at the metro areas of Charleston and Huntington to open more stores.
