A South Webster, Ohio, man was killed in a crash Thursday evening in Scioto County.

Christopher E. Beesler, 61, was killed after losing control of his car on state Route 140, according to a news release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The road was wet and Beesler struck a tree after leaving the roadway.

Beesler was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the news release.

Two passengers in the vehicle were taken to the hospital, the news release states. Kathy L. Beesler, 60, and Jason C. Beesler, 28, were taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center. There was no word on their conditions.

July has been a deadly month on Scioto County roads, Lt. Karla Taulbee said in the news release.

"This is the fourth fatal crash in Scioto County for the month of July," she said. "Three of the four were speed related crashes and the fourth was alcohol related. People need to slow down, especially on wet roadways."
