Three escape massive fire in a home on Walnut Street in Kanawha County
The Upper Big Branch Mine Memorial was dedicated today in Boone County.
The memorial was dedicated a little more than two years after an explosion at the mine killed 29 miners.
The memorial is located in Whitesville, not far from the mine. It portrays silhouettes of 29 miners along a wall.
Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin, both D-W.Va., Rep. Nick Joe Rahall, D-W.Va., Rep. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., as well as other dignitaries attended the event.
