American Electric Power Ohio reports that approximately 44,000 of the 53,000 customers affected across AEP Ohio service areas have been restored.
According to a press release, restoration is currently down to scattered small groups and individual customers.
Barring additional damage from any new storms that are forecast to pass through the state today, the company anticipates restoration for all customers to be completed by 6 p.m. Saturday.
Meteorologists continue to watch a strong upper-level system to the west.
