With the excitement of the Olympics gearing up in London, it's no surprise that some around here are actively involved in an Olympic sport that may one day send them to compete for the gold.

Parents and their kids converged on the Capital City recently to take part in a summer camp which catered to kids who are interested in reaching their goals in the sport of wrestling.

Golden Cross wrestling is a club and camp run by coach Avery Zerkle. Zerkle is head wrestling coach of Lasalle High in Cincinnati. He holds several camps in the region but comes to Charleston because of the growing interest in the sport in our area.

Some parents like wrestling for their kids who may not match up well with other kids who play team sports such as basketball and football.

Wrestling is competitive for kids no matter what the size.

If you are interested in learning more about wrestling in the area Zerkle says you can find him on the web.
