State police say they arrested at least three protestors at the Hobet 21 Surface Coal Mine in Boone County Saturday afternoon.

Most of the activists represented the group RAMPS, which stands for Radical Action for Mountain People's Survival.

Police say several protestors had chained themselves to mining equipment.  They added that they were searching for more activists hiding around the mountain.

Coal miners, their families, and their supporters also climbed the mountain in Madison, to voice their opinions and show their support for miners currently working at the time of the incident.
