UPDATE: Child's name released in fatal ATV crash

UPDATE


According to Sgt.. Michael Baylous of the West Virginia State Police, Devon Fisher, 12, was riding a "racing ATV" through Dutch Ridge in Clendenin around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

A racing ATV is smaller, and designed to go faster than a typical 4-wheeler.

Fisher drove the ATV around a sharp curve and hit a tree.

Baylous tells 13NEWS he is unaware if the child was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Pinch firefighters tell 13NEWS the victim of a deadly ATV accident in Dutch Ridge near the border of Kanawha and Clay counties was a 12-year-old boy.

According to 911 dispatchers, one person is dead after an ATV accident. 

This happened in Clendenin around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

Officials did not immediately release details about the crash.
