Shawnee State University will host Intermodal Conference 2012 on August 30, according to a news release from the university.
The conference will look at ways to improve regional economic development through intermodal transportation.
Intermodal transportation involves freight transportation, using an intermodal container or vehicle. The transportation can be done with river, highway or rail, without handling the freight, when changing the modes of transportation.
Many transportation officials and government leaders are expected to attend.
The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Sodexo Ballroom on the Shawnee State campus.
